    • 1. Why is there a discrepancy between the temperature displayed on the freezer panel and the FreezerNanny (FN) reading?

A: The difference is usually caused by the different locations of the temperature sensors inside the freezer. It is not unusual to see a 20°C difference between the top and bottom compartments, or a 5°C difference simply by moving the FN temperature probe deeper within the same compartment.

In many freezers, the built-in temperature sensor is located near the bottom, while the FN temperature probe is often placed near the top. The top compartment is generally warmer and more sensitive to changes caused by factors such as door openings or compressor problems. For this reason, FreezerNanny often recommends placing the probe near the top, where it can detect temperature changes more quickly.

Some freezers have multiple internal temperature sensors. For example, the Follett REF20 Upright has four temperature sensors. Some are used by the control system, while others can be selected for the temperature displayed on the freezer panel.

    • 2. What are the two phone numbers that FreezerNanny will call or text from?

A: FreezerNanny will call from 1-734-272-4568 and send text messages from 1-888-889-5418. We use two telecommunication vendors to maximize reliability.

We recommend adding both numbers to your contacts so you do not miss an important alert, especially at night. Only the FreezerNanny automated system will call you when an alert is triggered.
